West Cork. It has an attractive harbour where visitors can catch a
ferry to the nearby Sherkin Island with its beautiful beaches and
ruined abbey. Clear Island can also be reached by Ferry from
Baltimore. This remote Irish-speaking island is noted for its bird
sanctuary. Other places of interest in the area include Drombeg
Stone Circle, one of the best in County Cork, Timoleague Abbey and
the beautiful villages of Clonakilty and Kinsale, the latter famed
for its seafood restaurants. Baltimore is perfectly placed to
explore beautiful West Cork, Mizen Head and the Beara
Peninsula.
