International Tibute Festival now
have much to see in Ballyshannon where
Rory Gallagher lived for the first four
years of his life. The appropriately
named - Rock Hospital where Rory was
born on March 2nd 1948, East Port Road
is the Street where Rory first lived and
with it nowadays are Rory Gallagher
Place and the main Theatre at the Abbey
Centre was named “Rory Gallagher
Theatre” and unveiled by Donal
Gallagher.
The Festival is a must for Music lovers
with a mass gathering of Gallagher fans
set to participate in the 5-day
programme of events filled with non-stop
Rock 'n Blues sounds. The vast majority
events of the 5 day Festival are Free
Open Air Concerts and Pub Gigs,

Festival held at the start of August
each year, Rathmullan holds a Regatta
which attracts visitors from all over
Donegal and is a great day out with
fancy dress contests, amusements,
candyfloss, live music etc. and for the
older generation there is the boat race
and boat trips to Inch island and
Buncrana. Build your own Flight of the
Earls raft and join in the fun. On the
14th September 1607, a group of
Ireland’s noble elite left from Donegal
to find refuge in Europe and seek
assistance for their cause in Ireland.
They would never return. This episode in
Irish history would become known as the
Flight of the Earls. Among those who
left were Hugh O’Neill, Earl of Tyrone,
Rory O’Donnell, Earl of Tyrconnell, The
Maguires of Fermanagh, and dozens of
elite soldiers and scholars.
