rockery and herbaceous planting in front
of house; 'Michael's Shrubbery'n-
diverse rhododendron collection, an
enormous Euchryphia specimen, Davidia
involucrata, bog gardens and wild flower

Glenveagh Castle and
Gardens are located in Glenveagh
National Park. Glenveagh Castle, a 19th century castellated mansion
built between 1867 and 1873. Henry McIlhenny, the last
owner of the castle, served the Philadelphia Museum of Art as
Curator of Decorative Arts and his expertise in this field is
evident throughout the castle. Glenveagh National Park is located
24km north-west of Letterkenny and can be reached via the villages
of Kilmacrennan or Churchill. |

Greenfort Gardens,
Kerrykeel, Co Donegal, tradition has it that the first house
built on this site in 1711 by the
Babington family. The Walled
Garden and mature trees date from the
early Barton era, with the great ponticum bushes being about a century
old. There are many species and hybrid
rhododendron, azalea and camellia and
large areas of naturalised spring bulbs,
acres of snowdrops, narcissi & bluebells
in woodland. 15 acres of new broadleaf
woodland planting. There are four areas
for picnicking. |
