5,000 acres of bogland, lakes and moutains which make up the park
provide some of the most spectaular landscapes in Ireland and are
home to the Connemara ponies. Clifden is the largest town in the
area with several shops, a bank, pretty craft and coffee shops and
is a good starting point to enjoy the scenic Sky Road Drive. Built
in 1868, Kylemore Abbey is now home to the Irish Benedictine Nuns
but visitors can enjoy the beautiful gardens and there is a
restaurant and craft shop. There are many fine beaches in the area
such as the well-known beach, Dog's Bay and Gurteen Bay. The Irish
