WESTPORT

Westport is a  "Tidy Towns 2001"winner, and has won “Best kept small Town 2003” and “Overall Best Kept Town 2003”

Westport is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Ireland, and rightly so as the town combines not only heritage and history but also natural beauty and limitless amenities for all tastes, ages and interests. The town itself has recently been awarded the overall winners of the 2001 Irish Tidy Towns competition.

Firstly, one must mention Westport House which is one of Ireland's stately homes open to the general public. Also on its grounds there is a pitch-and-putt course, camping facilities, many walks, a bar and shops and also the popular boat rides.
One may also wish to visit Westport Heritage Centre where visitors can discover the story of Westport town in 3D models and interactive displays.

Croagh Patrick colloquially called 'The Reek' has been a place of pilgrimage for 1500 years. It is renowned for its Partrician Pilgrimage in honour of Irelands national apostle, Saint Patrick. Every year people travel from all over the world to climb to its summit, not only for religious purposes but also to view the splendour of "Clew Bay".
