Festival held in April where walkers can
choose the dedicated walks which suits
their level. It can range from a short
walk of 1.5 to 2 hours, Clooneen to
Coolrecuil or the medium 4 hour walk,
around the Tullyvilla Lakes, and the
long 4-5 hour walk where views from the
Ox Mountains over Sligo Bay, Enniscrone
and Donegal can be enjoyed. |

The Enniscrone Black Pig Festival
held in August in Enniscrone, County
Sligo starts with a parade and then is
followed by the Black Pig Rally. Legend
had it that a huge Black Pig had
run riot, devouring whatever was in its
way, and it eventually ran into the sea
at Sligo but returned and was later
killed and buried in Sligo which you can
see marked in Enniscrone.
Enniscrone is a seaside town in County
Sligo with 3 miles of golden sandy beach
is an added attraction after visiting
the Black Pig Festival. Enniscrone is
just 50 minutes from Sligo town. |

The Warriors Festival,
Strandhill, Co Sligo held in August is a
festival of races as well as a
Tug-of-War challenge on the beach, music
and much more. The village of Strandhill
is located 5 miles from Sligo town
centre. Also a 15K run called "The
Warriors Run", a road and hill race. It
start on the beach and much is run on
the road but then it takes participants
around Queen Maeves Cairn, up Knocknarea
and returns to the beach again, a
challenge only for the warriors out
there!! |

Tubbercurry Old Fair Day Festival
held in August in County Sligo, one of
the long running fair day festivals. All
the family can enjoy this Irish festival
of street entertainment, music, local
crafts, a selection of animals to view,
farriers, vintage displays, tin smiths,
thatchers and much more. Tubbercurry is
just 30 minutes from Sligo town centre
passing through Collooney, Ballinacarrow. |

International Summer School
held the end of July
and into August celebrates the life of
the great poet, William Butler Yeats. It
promotes the literature of Yeats, and
gives the visitor a chance to explore
Yeats Country, and see some of
inspiring beauty Sligo has to offer,
from Benbulben, Lissadell, Drumcliff and
visit the Yeats Memorial Building. There
is also a Yeats Winter School held in
January. |
