Rock of Cashel
The Rock of Cashel was originally the seat of the high
Kings of Ireland and has a wealth of Celtic Art and architecture
within its walls. It has been restored to it's former glory and is
well worth a visit. There is a heritage center close by and
traditional
musicians regularly give free concerts for visitors to the
restaurant and
the craft shops.
The Castle consists of a spectacular group of Medieval buildings set on an outcrop of
limestone in the Golden Vale including the 12th century round
tower, High Cross and Romanesque Chapel, 13th century Gothic
cathedral, 15th century Castle and the restored Hall of the Vicars
Choral. Attractions include an audio-visual show and exhibitions.
Access for visitors with disabilities by prior arrangement.
