New Ross is one of the oldest towns in
Ireland with traditional shops and houses rising steeply up from the
harbour. An inland port on the River Barrow, many of its activities
and attractions are centred on the harbour. In the summer restaurant
cruises ply the rivers and many local tours follow the course of the
Barrow and Nore rivers. North of New Ross is Duiske Abbey, one of
the finest medieval churches in Ireland. A 12km drive from New Ross
brings you to the John F Kennedy Park and Arboretum. Founded in
1968, the park has more than 4,500 trees and visitors can follow
paths and nature trails which open up to reveal panoramic views of
the surrounding coutryside. The town of Wexford is a vibrant and
bustling place with many fine pubs and restaurants. In Waterford,
the famous crystal factory offers guided tours and a tempting shop.
