Roscommon is located in the heart of Ireland the River Shannon borders the east of the county and the River Suck the west, with Lough Key, Lough Gara & Lough Boderg to the North and Lough Ree to the east.As you can imagine it is a magnet for fisherman from all over Europe, making the region one of the most popular angling destinations in the country.

Elphin, a market town in County Roscommon situated between Roscommon Town and Sligo, and it is only a short drive from Carrick-on-Shannon, Boyle and Knock Airport. The town of Elphin has had some historical people originate from this area such as Percy French, songwriter, entertainer and water colour artist, and Oliver Goldsmith, the poet, author and physician may have been born in this area. Elphin Windmill, as above, is a beautiful sight, built in the 1700′s. Elphin town which has its background in agriculture has a regular mart nearby.
